Both are built for small, fast-moving sales teams — not enterprise sales orgs. The real fork in the road is whether your business runs on calls or on a visual deal pipeline you check between meetings.
Choose Pipedrive if your sales process is mostly email, meetings, and the occasional call, and you want a clean visual pipeline you can glance at to know exactly where every prospect stands. Choose Close if you or your team spend real time on the phone prospecting — the built-in dialer, SMS, and call coaching remove the need for a separate phone system entirely.

Pricing verified from public vendor and comparison sources, July 2026. Add-ons (lead gen tools, phone minutes, premium numbers) can meaningfully raise real-world cost on both platforms — confirm current rates directly with each vendor.
If your work as an advisor looks like scheduled meetings, email follow-up, and the occasional discovery call, Pipedrive's visual, drag-and-drop pipeline is genuinely easy to keep updated without it feeling like admin work. It's the CRM we personally run day to day for exactly this reason — it fits a relationship-driven, meeting-heavy sales motion better than a phone-first tool.
If a meaningful part of your new-client pipeline comes from active outbound calling — cold or warm — Close's native dialer changes the math. You're not paying for a CRM and a separate phone system and trying to make them talk to each other; it's one tool, one login, call logs and CRM notes in the same place. The tradeoff is cost: the calling features that make Close worth choosing over Pipedrive sit behind the $99+/user Growth tier, not the cheap entry plan.
Pipedrive is the tool we personally use to run our own client pipeline — it's the right fit for a relationship-first, meeting-and-email sales process, which describes most independent financial advisory practices. Close is a genuinely strong tool, but it earns its higher price mainly if outbound calling volume is a real part of how you generate business, not just an occasional activity.
Pipedrive's entry plan starts lower. Close's calling features, its main advantage, require the pricier Growth tier plus separate charges for call minutes and phone numbers.
Close has a native VoIP dialer, SMS, and call coaching starting at its Growth tier. Pipedrive doesn't include native calling — you'd need a separate integration for high-volume outbound calling.
Pipedrive generally fits an advisor running a visual, meeting-and-email-driven pipeline. Close fits an advisor doing high-volume, call-first prospecting.
